VC fumes over absence of profs, to tighten checks
CHENNAI: Fuming over regular absenteeism by a section of teachers at the University of Madras, vice chancellor G Thiruvasagam has decided to introduce a biometric attendance system for staff members from the coming academic year.
"I am taking serious measures to ensure productivity in the university in terms of contribution of the teaching and non-teaching staff. For this, I believe in using technology," Thiruvasagam told The Times of India.
On Saturday, while participating in the university's academic council meeting, a furious vice chancellor had said: "I have taken the timetable and I am keeping track of which faculty has taken (permission for) outdoor duty. It won't be nice if I comment on these things. Professors must come to classes regularly. From the next academic year, faculty will have to record their attendance using biometric fingerprints and smart cards. Then we shall know what time you are coming (to the class)."
Thiruvasagam was provoked when professor Gopalji Malviya, a senior faculty member and head of department of defence and strategic studies, expressed doubts over his ambitious plans to set up smart classrooms and launch new add-on courses.

なぜかうちの学部は他の学部と比べると常にヒールな役回り。

俺が言いたいことは2つ
① 学長が提案する訳の分からん生体認証だの、指紋センサーだのを入れる前に俺らが使える設備を新しく入れろ。大学全体が歴史ある建築物だとしても、構内設備まで歴史を感じるようじゃ終わってる。単にゴミを響き良く取り繕ってるだけ。
てか、何年前のOHP使ってんだよ。学部にプロジェクターとスクリーンが無いとか話にならん。予算の使い方でHODが異議を唱えたなら俺はHODの側につく。
やっぱり、アンタが俺らの大将
② 授業が適切に行われていない点についても、振り替えは十分取ってる。特にアーミー、沿岸警備隊との結びつきが多い防衛戦略学部は週1で学外でセミナーをやってる。もちろん、俺らの参加は義務。世界中探して、どこの学校に人殺し専門家がいる？そういうのはアーミーとか実践部隊にしかいない訳よ。
これでもまだウダウダ騒ぐなら、
構内で軍事パレードでもブッ放してやればいい (ノ｀Д´)ノ彡┻━┻
